Yes, Seeley Booth will likely recover from the brain injury he suffered to conclude season four of Bones. After all, Fox has renewed the show up for two more seasons.

But how will the agent’s surgery affect his behavior when the series returns in September?

“It’s an interesting thing that’s going to happen,” David Boreanaz told reporters on Friday when the summer TV press tour visited the Bones set. “What I really want to maintain with the arc with him… is that he does have a remembrance of certain things, but he’s not as adept at other things as he thought he was.”

Such as?

“Whether it’s knowing how to interrogate someone, and he doesn’t do a certain thing and [Brennan is] looking at me going, ‘This is what you usually do,’ and I’m just a tad slow on that - those are the little nuances they kind of discover,” the actor added.

Speaking of Brennan, how will the new Booth react to his partner?

Boreanaz said this setback might actually help their relationship in the long run.

“It makes me want to reinviest my time and energy into that relationship,” he said. “Because I don’t remember certain things, now we’re back to ground zero.”

Bones will return on September 19.

August 3rd, 2009Bones: Booth Won’t Recover Just Yet

When we last saw Bones, the surgery to remove Booth’s (David Boreanaz) brain tumor was a success though Booth reacted poorly to the anesthesia which resulted in a coma that lasted four days. When he woke up, we learned that Booth’s memory was shattered, leaving Brennan (Emily Deschanel) shocked that her close friend and partner of four years cannot remember her. Since Bones has been renewed for two more seasons, it’s safe to assume that Booth will eventually recover from his brain injury. However, the road ahead won’t be easy.

“It’s an interesting thing that’s going to happen,” Boreanaz said Friday when the summer TV press tour visited the set of Bones. “What I really want to maintain with the arc with him … is that he does have a remembrance of certain things, but he’s not as adept at other things as he thought he was.”

There are plenty of things Booth won’t remember this season, including his distinct approach when it comes cross-examining people.

“Whether it’s knowing how to interrogate someone, and he doesn’t do a certain thing and [Brennan is] looking at me going, ‘This is what you usually do,’ and I’m just a tad slow on that — those are the little nuances they kind of discover,” Boreanaz said.

But more importantly, Booth’s inability to remember will take a toll on his relationship with Brennan, who previously asked for his semen in hopes of having a child.

“It makes me want to reinviest my time and energy into that relationship,” Boreanaz added. “Because I don’t remember certain things, now we’re back to ground zero.”

Fans can catch the fifth season on Bones on Thursday, September 17on FOX.

July 31st, 2009Bones/Lie To Me - Possible Crossover?

Here’s further proof that brain tumor-afflicted Booth will be on the mend this fall on Bones: The next Fox character that visits him will be a flesh-and-blood human, not an animated talking baby.

Sources confirm that Fox is toying with the idea of staging a crossover next season that would find Booth and Brennan working on a case with Tim Roth’s Lie to Me doc Lightman. The insider cautions that it’s in the very early stages and “may not even happen,” which is even more reason for me to get this out there now before the whole thing falls apart!

Thoughts? You tired of Fox’s other properties invading the sacred ground that is Bones? Or do you come from the “the more the merrier” school of thought? Sound off below!

The casting rumor is now a reality:

In his latest video, Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly confirms that Cyndi Lauper will appear on an episode of Bones early next season. The singer will portray a psychic that Angela goes to for assistance on a case. After pointing the team to a mass burial site, Lauper’s character becomes a prime suspect.

For this girl, might murder be a form of fun?!? Find out on the September 17 episode.

June 15th, 2009Emily Deschanel Says a Bones-Booth Pregnancy Unlikely Next Season

We wuz robbed.

Not only did Bones and Booth not have baby-making sex on Bones last season, they probably aren’t going to creating a l’il Brennan anytime soon, as Bones star Emily Deschanel says it’s unlikely her character will become pregnant anytime soon.

“There are complications along the way of [Temperance and Booth] discussing having children,” Emily explained during an appearance at the 49th Annual Monte Carlo Television Festival in Monaco. “I think it’s very possible she will be pregnant in the future but I don’t think its going to happen right away. I think she has some growing to do.”

“Everyone is aware that once you get the two characters together you lose that glue that holds the show together, which is that sexual tension,” she said. “I think they are being very careful about how to move forward without destroying that tension.”

*#@%!!!

Emily also revealed part of season five’s guest-star lineup, which includes a very famous lady rock star…

Apparently performer Cyndi Lauper will be stopping by next year. Emily said, “I don’t think [Cyndi] will be playing herself, but I’m not sure what role she’ll play, they’re debating it now.” Emily says the guest gig came about when, “I sang ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’ in one episode. She saw it and was interested in being in the show. She was an idol from when I was a child so I will probably be beside myself that day.”

Stephen Fry will also be backk, and it’s still true that Emily’s sis Zooey Deschanel may stop by the Bones set one of these days. (FYI, Emily’s cinematographer father Caleb Deschanel has directed a Bones episode, and her mother Mary Jo Deschanel, an actress, guested on House last season as Kutner’s mourning mother.)

Emily says of the possible sister act, “[Zooey] is interested in being on the show, and I know [Bones executive producer] Hart Hanson would love to have her on the show. It’s just a matter of finding time where she’s available…It’s very difficult because she’s always working as an actor or touring as a musician or recording, she’s very busy. So just getting the time together to get her to work on bones has been difficult but hopefully by the end we will have her on the show.”

Have you dreamed up any good roles for Zooey and Cyndi Lauper to play if and when they are signed on for a guest gig? And how are you feeling about Bones right now after the switcheroo finale?

About the DVD: Bones Season 4 and Seasons 1-4 Complete Boxset available to own on DVD on 26th October 2009

Gripping crime drama Bones is back for an eagerly-anticipated fourth series on DVD, reuniting feisty forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) with charming FBI agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz). Released by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on the 26TH October, Bones Season 4 follows the duos exploits as they solve some of the most complex murder cases and even manage to fit in a trip to London.

Based on the best-selling books by Kathy Reichs Bones delves deep into the complex world of forensic anthropology and the life of its most prolific expert, the highly skilled yet socially inept Dr Temperance Brennan (Deschanel; Spiderman 2, Cold Mountain). Often called upon by the FBI for her uncanny ability to read clues left behind in victims bones, Brennan finds herself paired with an unlikely ally; former army sniper Seeley Booth (Boreanaz; Buffy, Angel). Regularly clashing both personally and professionally the duos dramatically different skills and personalities make them a formidable crime-fighting team.

Season 4 premiere finds anthropologist “Bones” Brennan and FBI Agent Booth in London where they are asked by local officials to lend their expertise to a high-profile murder investigation. In the upcoming season Brennan and Booth will also deal with changes among the “squints” as well as in their own relationship, and a revolving group of graduate students who pitch in to help solve murders with the hope of being offered a more permanent position on the team.
